Is it considered legal? No because I am breaking the Blu-ray encryption. I personally rip all my Blu-ray Disks using make MKV and Handbrake for the sole purpose of storing them on my NAS and streaming that ripped movie file to the various media players in my home. The law says that you can make a backup of your media however there is still no law that allows you to break the encryption from the media company.
